In 2021, Agile Richmond grew tired of waiting for the pandemic to end…

Along with so many changes brought to us due to COVID and the global pandemic, Agile Richmond worked over the past two years to apply the spirit of Agile – adapting to the challenges, personal and professional, that the pandemic brought to us all, and learning how to maintain our connections with our two communities, Agile and Richmond.

In the spring of 2021, we took what we’ve learned over the past decade and more of running InnoVAte Virginia and delivered miniVAte Virginia 2021: a one-day virtual conference, bringing together fifteen speakers across three virtual “channels” and covering topics related to Agile, technology, learning together, and adapting to the world of remote working and connection.

We’ve kept all the sessions for our community; you can find them here, and on our YouTube channel too.

Channel One

We wanted to provide a similar experience to our in-person conferences, so we focused on providing three different “tracks” for attendees. But, since it’s all virtual and we’d be interacting with our screens, we called them “channels”.

Each of our channels’ sessions are here on this page, as they were presented during miniVAte 2021.

Welcome and Mindfulness

To kick off miniVAte 2021, we asked one of our community members and friends, Skye Fraker, to lead us all in a mindfulness session.

With Skye’s help, we were all able to shift our energy and focus for the day from worry and concern about the work we might be missing to the present, from the stresses and struggles that filled much of 2020 and 2021 to a sense of exploration at the opportunities for learning and community.
